Hi! I wanted to start this website for parents to network with other parents, and to gain information from each other on topics such as toilet training, GFCF Diet, supplements, travel tips, activities, education, and much more!

Give us a quick introduction to yourself, and leave some feedback on the website and what you would like to see! If you need help or have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!  - Tiff

Hi Tiff!!! I got this site off of Facebook - didn't know it existed! Looks GREAT, too!

Will you be adding links to various biomedical interventions as well? I have TONS in my favs if you'd like me to share as well. We are delving deeper into our recovery efforts and things are improving slowly, but improving nonetheless!

Guess I should've said a few things about us.. Mom of 4, ages 20, 17, 7 and 6. DS (7) was diagnosed a year ago with PDD-NOS. We are currently using a DAN doctor in Plano, who is helping us with our recovery efforts.

We also deal with sensory issues, auditory processing issues, sleep issues (although much better now) and ocd behaviors.

Dawn,

We did list some of the bio-medical things we have tried on the "Things We Have Tried" list, and I have some links on the the "links" tab for bio-med issues. I have not explored the world of bio-med too much. I think Tara has more experience on the bio-med end of things. Hopefully, we can get more info. as our website grows and we can post it for parents who take that route. Thanks so much for the feedback, and the ideas. We need to have another "lunch bunch" soon! - Tiff

My 22 y.o. daughter with Asperger's is in the Autism Support Program at MSU. My 14 y.o. son was in an ASD classroom during grade school. He currently is getting special ed services under ED/LD(dysgraphia)/OHI(adhd and Tourette Syndrome). A resource for your DFW list is the Equest horseriding program in Wylie. A friend's son has participated for several years and they found it very helpful.

Hello-
My name is Jill Stover, and I am the recently-appointed Partners Resource Network/PATH Project representative to your area. If you are not familiar with the PRN/PATH mission, we are a non-profit agency funded by the Department of Education as a parent training center for families of children with disabilities. We focus on helping parents to learn about the law and advocacy that help them to be more effective in working to secure services for their children, and particularly through the public school system.
Personally, I am the parent of a child diagnosed with ADHD, PDD-NOS and related learning disabilities. My families journey into the "abyss" of special education and related matters started when my son was about 6, andsince then, I have been voraciously learning all I can about the law, advocacy, providing parent support, etc. I am a certified secondary teacher and certificated paralegal, but over the past 5 years, have been devoting my energy almost fulltime to learning about and dealing with my son's issues, working with other parents concerning special education issues, and providing networking opportunities for local parents through a Meetup blog and a Circle of Moms initiative. If there is one thing I know for sure from these experiences, it is that 'knowledge is power', and secondly, there is strength in numbers. It is hard to do it alone, and the more you learn, and the more people you connect with who have similar experiences, the more likely you are to be successful in the 'special needs' world. I believe that Stormy Lovett, the previous Region 9 Regional Coordinator (still with PRN but focusing on another territory currently), has kept you informed to this point about what's going on with PRN/PATH for trainings, but I wanted to remind you of two trainings coming up that are available at little or no cost to parents. One is Parent Partner training Jan 22-23 in N. Dallas(stipends may be available for mileage and lodging), and the other is the PATH Transition Conference ("Life Outside of the Box") on Saturday, March 6. I would be happy to tell you more and to provide the registration flyers, etc. if you will contact me at jstover.path@gmail.com or 940-300-8355 I look forward to meeting you all at some point in the near future, and would be happy to share the information and resources I have connected with. Have a blessed New Year!

Those will be thy best friends, not to whom thou hast done good, but who have done good to thee.

I am raising 2 boys on the autism spectrum, and may not be an "expert", but I sure do have alot of "on the job experience" as an autism mom! My goal is to help other families just starting out on their autism journey, or hitting road blocks that I have been through before. Thanks for visiting Autism Parent 2 Parent!
